As a designer of all types of marketing communications for the past 29 years I have worked with many different companies and products ranging from pharmaceutical, to financial, to high tech and consumer areas. I have learned to distill an idea, product or theme down to it's simplest form, then to build a concept or layout back up using a visual language (colors, images, typography) that draw on feelings, emotions, or experiences of the intended audience. There is a fine line between delivering the "same old thing" and pushing the audience so far that their attention is lost. Either way sales suffer. It is on that fine line is that effective design resides. As a graduate from Tyler School of Art in 1980 I was taught that a strong concept along with strong execution can create a powerful message. And this message can encourage people to think, feel or act in particular ways. In a world of heavy promotion from almost every direction, putting out an appropriate and exciting visual message is more important than ever. As a result, design, marketing, fine art and business are merging closer and closer every day. My experience in the industry ranges from a designer, art director and assistant creative director for a Philadelphia based design firm from 1980-1997. While employed there I designed and produced everything from annual reports, corporate identity, advertising, trade show exhibits and direct mail. From 1997 to the present I have owned and operated AXIS visual, a design firm specializing in creative solutions for the marketing communications industry.
My ultimate goal? To design everything.
